Under the chairmanship of Sri K. Sreenivas Reddy, Chairman, Media Academy of Telangana, a special interaction meeting with senior journalists, writers and media experts was organized at the Media Academy building, Nampally, Hyderabad on 19-05-2026.
The programme witnessed the participation of Special Commissioner, Information & Public Relations Department, Sri G. Mukund Reddy, I.A.S., along with several eminent journalists and media personalities. During the interaction, participants extensively discussed the future of journalism, digital transformation in media, journalist welfare, media laws, artificial intelligence in journalism, digital archives and modern training systems for media professionals.
Addressing the gathering, Sri G. Mukund Reddy, I.A.S., stated that during his Journalism degree days, the habit of reading newspaper editorials inspired him towards Civil Services preparation and helped him achieve success in life. He expressed happiness in interacting with senior journalists and media veterans at the Academy.
Senior journalists emphasized that journalism is rapidly transforming in the digital era and media professionals should adapt themselves to modern technologies including Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital storytelling and multimedia journalism. Participants suggested that the Academy should introduce advanced digital journalism training programmes, internship opportunities, incubator support systems and specialized workshops for desk journalists and rural reporters.
The speakers also stressed the importance of preserving old newspapers, rare books and historic publications through digitization projects for the benefit of future generations. Several senior journalists expressed their willingness to donate valuable books and collections to the Media Academy Library.
During the programme, senior journalists and distinguished guests were felicitated with shawls by the Chairman of the Academy and recollected memorable moments from their journalism careers.
Sri I. Venkat Rao appreciated the remarkable initiatives being undertaken by the Media Academy and assured that he would donate more books to enrich the Academy Library. Former MLC Sri Ameer Ali Khan stated that journalism gave him courage and identity in public life and thanked the Academy for organizing such an interactive platform.
Sri Udumula Sudhakar Reddy suggested that the Academy should establish digital classrooms and media incubator facilities to meet the requirements of modern journalism. He also proposed conducting discussions on important issues like gag orders and media freedom with senior journalists.
Senior journalist Sri Devulapalli Amar suggested that the Academy should document and publish the video archives of 16 veteran journalists in book form for future reference and academic value.
The participants appreciated the initiatives of the Media Academy of Telangana in strengthening journalism, promoting media education, preserving media heritage and supporting journalist welfare activities. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to all the participants and organizers.
